Policemen in Ogun State have arrested three herdsmen suspected to have killed a 40-year-old farmer, Rafiu Sowemimo, on Sunday at Adao village in Alabata area of Abeokuta.
This was contained in a statement by the State Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Monday, that the suspects stabbed Sowemimo to death when he (victim) challenged them for grazing their cattle on his farm.
Abimbola said the State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, worried by this incident, deployed his men to the area of and ensured that the hoodlums get arrested for prosecution.
The PPRO said the victim age according to the villagers was 40 and not 76 reported in the media.
The team said to be led by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and that of the State Criminal Investigation Department swung into action and arrested the trio of Muhammed Adamu, Saliu Ismail and Saliu Adamu.
The Police boss while commiserating with the villagers and family members of the victim, assured proper investigation and prosecution of the suspects.
He also ordered that the suspected criminals be transferred to the Homicide section of the State Criminal investigation and intelligence department for proper investigation and prosecution.
