Lagos police arrests 126 traffic offenders

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, on Tuesday said that the command had arrested 126 suspects over the violation of the new traffic laws of the state.

Braide, who said this in the command’s crime statistics for the month of July added that 78 suspects were also arrested for breach of public peace.

She said that during the period under review, 78 suspected armed robbers were arrested as against 31 in the month of June.

The PPRO said that four persons were arrested for gambling, while two were caught for bribery and corruption.

Braide said that the command arrested a total of 37 murder cases, as against the 22 recorded in June.

The statistics showed that 10 suspected armed robbers were killed in encounters with the police in July, as against 15 killed in June.
 
She said that 60 persons, including 15 women, were arrested for cases related to false pretences and cheating in July, saying that there were no such cases recorded in June.

Out of this figure, according to Braide, four had already been convicted.

Braide, however, said that a total of 54 persons were arrested over alleged forgeries' of documents and currencies.
