Chief Accountant of Delta State University nabbed for allegedly defrauding the school of N21m
Men of the Delta State police command have arrested a Chief Accountant attached to the Delta State University (DELSU) Abraka and another staff of the Bursary department for allegedly defrauding the university of over N21 million, even as four fake licensing officers who specialize in issuing fake licences to unsuspecting motorists were picked up at the premises of the State Licensing office in Asaba.
The command’s spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka confirmed the two incidents saying that the chief accountant of the university and another staff of the bursary department were arrested “for defrauding DELSU of over N21 million”.
Muka further stated that “the suspects, (names withheld) on interrogation confessed stating that they used the money to buy cars and landed property. Items recovered from them include Nisan car, a Jeep, LCD TV, 400,000 cash, lands and buildings. They will soon be arraigned in court”, he added.
On the arrest of four fake licensing officers, Muka said, “we (police) also arrested four persons for issuance of fake road worthiness and insurance. The suspects on information were rounded up in motor licence office premises by the men of Police ‘A’ Division Asaba where they deceive customers into patronising them”.
